This event brought together academics, teachers, cultural and professional organisations, academic publishers and representatives from government bodies including the Department for Education and the Civil Service, in order to (i) highlight the latest findings from https://linguisticsinmfl.co.uk (ii) encourage a frank and open discussion about the potential role of linguistics in school-based language teaching, and (iii) facilitate new collaborative ventures between academics and these outside agencies. The event was hybrid and registration was free. A manifesto summarising the agreed actions from the event will be published shortly!
